Dear Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell,

We are tired of seeing President Trump’s efforts to keep the citizens of the United States safe, by suspending travel from terror-ridden nations, thwarted again and again by renegade federal judges – members of the bench who feel they can overrule the results of our most recent presidential election by stripping the authorized power of our President.

Though it is one of the most settled aspects of constitutional law that a U.S. President can exclude or deport any non-citizens, these days, a single federal district judge can issue an injunction and reinstate 60,000 visas for foreign nationals with the stroke of a pen.  They are clearly using these actions as a way to stop presidential actions with which they disagree.  That is a dangerous threat to our democracy and we want it stopped.

These continued actions of arrogance and overreach by federal judges who oppose President Trump are, in effect, erasing the results of the last presidential election.

There is no more balance of power between our three branches of government.  One branch has clearly taken the reigns of democracy, usurping the power of the Presidency and erasing the will of the people who put our new president in office.

It is in your power to address this dangerous judicial overreach that is threatening the security of our nation, and today we call on the U.S. Congress to take the following immediate actions to do so:

  1. Impeach rogue judges.  Make an example of radicals like Judges Watson, Robart, or any others who engage in civil disobedience.
  2. Strip lower courts of jurisdiction to grant rights to any foreign national to enter or remain in the United States.  Appeals concerning such a matter must then reach the Supreme Court before they can be overturned.
  3. Prevent future lower courts from issuing nationwide injunctions against immigration enforcement acts outside of their respective districts and circuits.  No district judge should have the power to control immigration for the entire nation.

It’s time that the U.S. Congress get serious about judicial tyranny.  Until then, we don’t have a democracy.

We will be watching to see how your respective chambers address this very serious issue, and we will have your actions – or inactions -- in mind when we go to the ballot box next November.

Thank you.
