LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT
U.S. CONGRESSMAN MIKE POMPEO
STANDS UP TO CAIR!
Rep. Pompeo scheduled to speak at our Legislative Briefing
By Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations
Earlier this week, Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS/4th) took to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to ask why there is continued relative silence by Islamic religious leaders worldwide after jihadist attacks. Mr. Pompeo noted, “It’s been just under two months since the attacks in Boston and in those intervening weeks, the silence of Muslim leaders has been deafening…and that is sad, but most importantly, it is dangerous.” Click HERE to watch the Congressman’s full statement on the House Floor before his colleagues.
So how did CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations respond? Did they agree with the Congressman and join together with him in his call for more Islamic religious leaders to speak out boldly against ongoing jihadist attacks here in the U.S. and across the world?
Of course not.
No, CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial (the largest terror-financing trial in U.S. history), and the Hamas propaganda arm in the United States, played their usual game of legislative “whack-a-mole” by attacking Congressman Pompeo.
As CAIR soon found out, however, the Congressman isn’t one to easily back down when he is right. Kudos to Congressman Pompeo!!!
Yesterday, in a public response to CAIR’s attack, Mr. Pompeo said, “I’m not backing down in my call for Islamic partners to do more to combat Islamic extremism. Actions speak louder than words: If religious leaders are serious about wanting to end this violence, they need to help address the cause of it….” Further, the Congressman noted to CAIR, “While it is laudable to issue English-language press releases in response to a couple of high-profile terrorist attacks, this is simply not enough. Instead, these groups must lead the charge on eliminating the radical elements of your faith.”

For those who wish to stand with Congressman Pompeo, we recommend you write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper in support of his call for Islamic leaders to speak out and denounce Islamic terrorism. If you wish to thank him personally for his recent actions, please do NOT call or e-mail his office. Mass quantities of calls shut down a congressional office and are not effective for “thank you” messages. This applies to e-mails as well. Instead, please write the Congressman a personal note and send it to him at:
