The steady rise of Islamic dissent, violence and terror taking place in both Europe and the United States is a deeply growing concern that each must take very seriously or face an eventually imminent doom.

In Europe, where the doors to Muslim immigration were liberally flung open, the flowing tide of Islamic violence is particularly frightening because of the continent's passivity toward viewing the world as far as an issue of national security. Equally to blame is Europe's failure to assimilate Muslims into many European countries.

Certainly there were the deadly bombings in Spain and London in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Both of these terrorist attacks were linked to Islamic terrorists. Yet despite those calamities, even now, through a separatist and emboldened Muslim community, one English official submissively envisions some inevitable form of Sharia Law existing in England. Imagine, this in the country of Winston Churchill and the courageous British people who repulsed Hitler's Luftwaffe in 1940. Maybe what the Nazis didn't achieve, the radical Muslims will.

France, in recent years, has endured fiery riots in the suburbs outside of Paris from mainly poor, young Muslims restless within the French society. Now, the Swedish National Board of Youth Affairs has warned of a "ticking time bomb in our society" if Sweden is not successful in dealing with and assimilating its own growing population of Muslim youth.

But what of here at home? Nigerian Muslim Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's attempt to ignite a bomb on an airliner approaching Detroit on Christmas Day was prevented by the alert, bold actions of the passengers and crew. Also, it was just months ago when American Army officer Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly opened fire on his fellow comrades, killing 13 and wounding 29 at Fort Hood, Texas, all in the name of Allah.

Shamefully, however, our current president and his far left administration don't seem to grasp the seriousness of Islamic terror, both here and abroad. Giving judicial constitutional rights to Muslim enemy combatants by trying them in our federal courts is strictly a politically motivated travesty concocted by Democrats in power.

Moreover, according to the doctrine of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, former U.S. servicemen are a bigger security threat than potentially right-wing terrorists. In other words, play nice, or just ignore possible domestic Islamic terrorists and instead watch those white male ex-servicemen who responsibly own guns and drive pickup trucks.

The results? An American army recruiter in Arkansas allegedly shot and killed by another American convert to Islam and five Muslim students from Virginia going to Pakistan to learn a trade from al-Qaida.

Only by firmly accepting that there is indeed a permeating radical Islamic threat, steeped violently in rejection of the West, can free nations effectively defeat or at least contain it.

The Bush administration understood. The Obama administration seems reluctant to do so. And while it is obviously true that most Muslim people are not dangerous jihadists, there nevertheless does exist an evil element of Islam and a mysterious failure by moderate Muslim leaders, living in free societies, to condemn it.

Over the past decade alone, beginning with the horror of 9/11, we have seen more than enough evidence to believe it. The United States and especially Europe should be vigilant.
