America Must Not Bail Out Sharia Finance

By Jeffrey Imm

On September 17, 2008, the U.S. News and World Report magazine reported on how the "Federal Reserve extended an $85 billion loan to American International Group to be paid back as AIG sells off some business in the biggest government takeover so far in the ongoing credit crisis." What the American public hasn't seen yet is what AIG is going to sell off in terms of its business. According to the September 16, 2008 press release by the Federal Reserve on this bailout, the "U.S. government will receive a 79.9 percent equity interest in AIG and has the right to veto the payment of dividends to common and preferred shareholders."

But while the U.S. taxpayers are loaning money to AIG and the U.S. holds a nearly 80 percent equity interest in AIG, no one in the government seems concerned that AIG is continuing to expand its Sharia finance business. Less than a week after the government bailout of AIG, Reuters reported on how AIG's unit American International Assurance Co (AIA) was awarded an "international takaful (Islamic insurance) license" by the Malaysian government.  AIG's American International has been selling Sharia-based "Islamic insurance" for at least two years, through its AIG Takaful division, since its October 1, 2006 announcement,

Evidence in the Holy Land Foundation re-trial now online

Oct 01, 2008

Kudos to the staff of U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis, the federal clerk's office and anyone else responsible for helping get the volumes of re-trial evidence online and available to the public. ( http://www.txnd.uscourts.gov/judges/hlf2.html ) Last year, Judge A. Joe Fish had the same open policy, and the trial evidence from both the prosecution and defense became an invaluable tool for researchers as well as the curious.

Fractured Fairytales about Jihad on Capitol Hill

Jeffrey Imm

On September 23, 2008, in the U.S. Congressional Rayburn House Office Building (RHOB), speakers in a panel discussion sponsored by the Counterterrorism Blog (CTB) and the New America Foundation (NAF) spun fractured fairytales about Jihad and the need for America to "engage" with proponents of Islamic supremacism. (I previously wrote a background article on this subject entitled "Jihad and the Growing Surrender of American Counterterrorism.")

The September 23rd panel discussion topic was "The Jihadists' Revolt Against Al Qaeda" based on a New Republic article co-written by Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank. The speakers on the panel were: Peter Bergen of the "liberal think tank" New America Foundation, Counterterrorism Blog contributing experts Paul Cruickshank and Evan Kohlmann, and the Quilliam Foundation's Maajid Nawaz. The audience at this panel discussion included foreign policy analysts, counterterrorism analysts, the Saudi Arabia press, and a representative from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

At War With Islam

Martel Sobieskey

The following article is written by Martel Sobieskey and published here with his permission. Sobieskey has 35 years research experience in the field of religious conditioning and its relationship to warfare. He is greatly alarmed that American politicians, educators, journalists, intelligence analysts, security personnel and police have failed to comprehend the deeply entrenched Jihadist conditioning inherent in all of Islam, moderates included.

AMERICA IS AT WAR with the religion of Islam. The key word here is religion. We Americans have a “mental block” that causes us to deny that we are fighting a religion. Take an atomic bomb, write the letters R-E-L-I-G-I-O-N on it, and we gullible Americans will welcome it as a religion. This statement is not entirely an exaggeration.

Freedom of religion has become America’s “Achilles heel” stabbed through with the sword of Islam.
