Sunday, June 12, 2016 marks the day of the worst domestic terrorist attack in America since 9/11. ISIS has proudly claimed responsibility for this heinous attack while following through with their promised threats by savagely attacking patrons of a popular night club in Orlando, Florida. Omar Mateen, 29, armed and intent on murdering anything in sight, shot and killed 50 people.
In the course of his attack, the New York-born son of Afghan immigrants called 911 and pledged allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
50 are dead and 53 lie in Florida hospitals, seriously wounded. Families are anguished. The death count may very well rise over the coming days.
When will our government finally say “enough is enough?” When will President Obama and his administration take a stand and begin protecting this nation -- starting by finally identifying these brutal people by name – Islamic jihadists? It’s time we throw political correctness in the garbage and call a spade a spade. American lives are at risk.
Each day, ISIS plots to infiltrate our nation with its twisted and violent objectives by using people who have pledged loyalty to them; and this case is no exception. Barbaric acts of violence have no place within our borders of safety and freedom, and it is important we have authority over this unremitting brutality.
The United States of America is a civilized society of laws and compassion. We mustn’t cave to anything less. If we don’t take a stand against those who refuse to practice tolerance, who will?
