Constitution Day is Monday, September 17th, 2018. On this day, we celebrate the ratification of the Constitution, as well as those who have become US citizens.

Chapter Meeting

- Schedule your next meeting on or around September 17th
- Hang up a sheet of paper with the title “Banned Words”
- Write down some words on the paper that cannot be used during the meeting
- For example, “freedom,” “independence,” “rights”
- Discuss the importance of freedom of speech and why we must defend this Constitutional right
- Take a photo of your banned words and email it to pictures@actforamerica.org

Letter to the Editor (LTE)

- Write an LTE about the importance of free speech
- Discuss why we must defend speech that we may not agree with
- Relate the historical context of how the Nazis burned books
- Key buzz word: Silencing free speech is fascism

Naturalization Ceremonies

- Contact your local district court to find out if there are any upcoming naturalization ceremonies
- Set up a table on public property outside the district court building to welcome new citizens
- Hand out miniature American flags and pocket Constitutions
