It’s past time to end the Border Crisis at the Southern Border!
Border security is a top priority this legislative session thanks in great part to the Freedom Caucus who hammered out priority agenda items including border security before electing a new Speaker of the House.
Representative Chip Roy, a champion of border security, wasted no time introducing a new border security bill HR 29 titled ‘Border Safety and Security Act of 2023’ last week.
The intention of this bill is to authorize and force the DHS to suspend entry of illegal aliens and immediately return them to their origin country.
The bill emphasizes the obligation of the DHS to maintain ‘operational control’ of the border and ports of entry and should act to overcome the Biden Administrations attempts at circumvented our laws through Executive Orders.
Two Major Takeaways
A great percentage of Aliens attempting to cross our borders do not arrive with legal papers and DHS will now be authorized to immediately deny entry of these individuals.
Better yet, this bill empowers State Attorneys Generals or other authorized state officer to bring action against the Secretary of Homeland Security on behalf for their state residents in an appropriate US district court to obtain appropriate injunctive relief such as emergency orders by the court to enforce the letter of this bill when any of our federal agencies are failing to enforce federal laws related to border security and admittance of Aliens.
